Feeding your toddler
New mothers are generally apprehensive about feeding their baby for the first time. A lot of mothers join baby care classes during their pregnancy. But understanding something during the classes is quite different from handling your baby in actuality. Your baby will be tender. You will feel the fear holding the little one for the first time. You would feel that your baby is softer and more delicate than what you had expected. You would suddenly feel more responsible as you hold your baby for the first time. Similarly, you would need to be cautious and alert while doing all the activities for your baby like bathing, feeding etc.
Feeding your toddler is one of the basic responsibilities as it is very important to provide your child with the right kind of nutrition. Mother’s feed is the best food for a new born baby. The plan of bottle feeding your young one, can create problems for your baby at some later stage in life. You should jump to bottle feeding after consulting your doctor. It is important that your baby is fed on breasts for at least six months. You should try and feed your baby with breast feed to ensure your baby’s health and safety. Many babies manifest different kind of food allergies. Therefore it is not a nice idea to expose your baby to external food right from birth. You should give your baby some time so that his or her immunity develops as it will ensure that your baby is in safe hands. Goat’s milk or cow’s milk can cause several allergies to your baby. Babies, at the time of their birth, are very vulnerable to such kind of food allergies. It has been observed that goat’s milk is still closer to human milk. But cow’s milk is a complete”No” for a new born!
When can your baby switch to solid food?
This is a common query amongst young mothers. Your baby can switch to solid food between four to six months of age. You should start feeding your baby with soft fruits like banana. But this calls for a lot of precaution as solid food may not be easily digestible for all the babies. Check if your baby develops no stomach problems with solid food. These stomach problems may occur in the form of constipation or indigestion. You should mash the food properly and then feed your little one with it. We suggest that you should feed your baby with organic solid only. This is definitely the best form of solid food to begin with and on top of that organic food is healthy and forms a wide nutritional value base for your little one. It will facilitate rapid growth of your child as well. Always make your little one consume fresh food. You would find all sorts of canned baby food varieties in the market. But a better idea would be to prepare your own baby food at home as it takes very less amount of time and ensures purity and health for your child.
